Thanks for reminding me Mom. I forgot to mention how Rome went.
Genci's friend picked us up at the airport. The 8 of us (his wife & 2 little girls) squeezed into a tiny car (it was fine) and drove to his house/flat about 45 minutes away. I was a little disappointed to not see even a hint of Rome, but it was nice to be somewhere where someone else was taking care of us. Genci really enjoyed talking to his friend. His friend also had his parents living with him, so we talked in a combination of Albanian and English. His wife didn't speak Albanian, but she did speak some English, so there were 3 languages flying around.
We had an enjoyable afternoon hanging out at his house. They prepared an Italian feast for us. My favorite dish was thinly sliced eggplant that had been marinated in some sort of vinagrette. I don't know what it was called. It was raining outside most of the day. It cleared up before we left, so we took a half hour walk to an older part of the city and had some ice cream. Then it was off to the airport again.
It was very nice for Genci to be able to reconnect with his friend, and I had an enjoyable time too. The kids mostly played with our hosts' ipad, but at least everyone was happy.
Hi Tam,
ReplyDeleteHope your day has been adventurous. It has been gray and rainy today which I don't mind because I have been working on my taxes. It seems right for the universe to be slightly depressed. I have a meeting with my tax guy (Dick Goss) on Friday. Hope I can handle the news when it comes!
Easter: Wendy, Ryan, Ashley, Kaylee and Ryans friend, Eric, and I went to the Red Fox Pub for brunch at around noon. The custom made omelets were amazing. There was everything for food. We all ate ourselves silly, so much so that I didn't even think about a dinner meal that night.
After brunch we all parted ways...Wendy, Ryan, Eric, and Kaylee to the Eastern Slope Inn to swim, Ashley and I to my house. She hung out and I started work on ...you guessed it... the taxes.
I liked your story of the boys playing chess. It's cool that they could get into games right there where you are. That is one nice thing about the culture there...people hanging out playing games...Bet the boys will be talking about this part of their trip in years to come.
Gotta head for the couch. I'll check in on you soon. -love Mom
Hey Tam, Genci, Nathan and Lukie,
ReplyDeleteIt's 8:15 pm here in North Conway, NH. Waiting for the shishkabobs to come off the grill. Wondering what's happening in Albania!
Here it is still cool and gray, but then it's April!
Teddy is licking the floor by the door to the deck because I spilled shiskabob sauce on the way to the grill. He seems determined to find more good stuff although I am sure he's scoured it completely off the floor.
I've beem busy trying to get the antique painting prints completed. I have to say, I wish you were nearby Tammy so I could learn more about the adjustment process in photoshop and what makes sense to do to get the best prints. I've beeen working with the graphic designer at Minuteman, but it's really a trial and error process...
How is chess playing going for the boys?
I'm going to go take the shishkabobs off and have dinner. Looking forward to your next post. Thinking of you always as you travel. -Mom
