Stroll to the ice cream store

For kids, it's all about the ice cream.

Playing chess at the hostel's bar.

The gate to the hostel.

Some people playing music at the hostel's cafe.

The guys that work and/or hang out at the hostel have taken the boys under their wings, especially when it comes to playing chess. Luke has played with 5 different guys, some multiple times.

A Roma (gypsy) encampment on an unused piece of land near the lake.

I indulged the kids in cotton candy. Their teeth were a gross pink for hours. Not doing that again.

The highlight of the day for the kids was chasing geckos.

Luke declaring that he's a gecko hunter!

On the hunt!

For Auntie Phyllis, a lighthouse. I don't know why it's there. It's a small, man-made lake.

Even dogs get to ride mopeds. Hey Teddy! You thought riding in the car was scary...

It was so nice to have a sunny day. These flowers were at the zoo, which although a little sad, was pretty.

Yet another gecko hunt. He's on top of the wall.

Oops. He got away.

The chickens and roosters roamed about freely. Later a rotweiler puppy (teenager puppy?) attacked a chicken, which was a bit of a commotion. They did stop him, but I didn't go close enough to see how the chicken fared.

This is a horse. There were also a couple llamas, goats & some sort of bull in this pen.

The osteriches were pretty cool. They are so tall, and their eyes look so intelligent, but a little angry. Their necks are so strong and flexible. I wonder how intelligent they are.

Luke hops, skips, jumps and plays everywhere we go. These tree stumps were irresitible to both of the boys.

We felt bad for these bears, but it was fun to feed them (grass).
That's what I'm talking about! LOVE the pics and captions! Feel like I'm right there! Boys and geckos, tree stumps, cotton candy... worldwide. Thanks for the big peek!
ReplyDeleteHi Tam,
ReplyDeleteWell worth the wait for this update. Great photos. Love the chess game pics, the gecko pics, and of course the dog riding on the motorcycle. I'll let Teddy know how good he has it.
Also loved seeing your pics of Genci's friend and his family in the Rome area. I felt love and fond friendship and caring family vibes.
